Leap of faith

It's pretty common knowledge that I am obsessed with pictures. I've just always LOVED photography. I even took a photography class once. Anyone can attest to the fact that I have a camera permanently attached to my face. I've thought about trying to do it professionally, but I've always had one excuse or another not to try. Now that I'm home with a very flexible work schedule, my excuses aren't good any more. So, for the past couple of months, it's been on my mind a lot. Then, Kim comes along. She has totally inspired me. Without even knowing it, she has given me the extra push I needed to get me going. The first thing I need, obviously, is a good camera. I asked Kim lots of questions (thanks for being patient with me) & read about every review on Nikon that I could find. After much agonizing, I finally decided on the Nikon D40. I found a really good deal online (bhphotovideo.com is awesome!) & made the leap. It was a long week waiting for it to be delivered, but it finally came today! I've had the time of my life this afternoon reading the manual & playing with all the settings. I'm still waiting on my portrait lens (it's out of stock), so the kit lens will have to do for now. My next step? Building my portfolio. So, my wonderful friends & family, if would like me to take some family shots for you, I'd love the practice! Personally, I think an entire portfolio of Hollie is just great, but it doesn't display much variety. :O)

Anyway, here are a few of the shots I took today.

This is it, my new baby. I almost hugged the UPS guy when he delivered it.
