This is the Place

We went up to This is the Place Monument with my family today. We spent all afternoon just walking around pioneer village, riding on the train & relaxing on the grass. The best part, though, was the petting zoo. Hollie loved looking at the animals, especially the baby goat. It was so tiny! The only thing that would have made the day better was if Josh, Tammy & CJ weren't out of town & could've come with us.

Hollie was absolutely enthralled with the millions of baby chicks. I think she could have stayed there all day.

Doesn't Hollie look so grown up next to baby Abram?! This picture cracks me up, though! They both look very irritated that we're taking their picture.

Daybreak

Sam, Hollie & I had a picnic dinner at Daybreak with Jer & Erin and Ben & Jessica tonight. It was such a beautiful night & we had so much fun walking around the lake. Hollie did not like getting her feet dipped in the water at first, though. I think it was a little cold.

Family Pictures

It was very difficult, but I finally narrowed down which pictures I wanted (you guys know how indecisive I am). Thanks again, Kim! You're awesome! Here are my favorites...

Tag, you're it!

Like you, Les, this is also my first time being tagged. I asked Sam what was something quirky about me. He replied with, "Everything about you is quirky." Thanks, dear. Here are a few of the weird things that make me, me.

1. I get absolutely giddy in the fall when I get to pick out pumpkins. If anyone has seen my porch in the fall, they can attest to the fact that I LOVE pumpkins. It's one of my favorite seasons (actually, I like them all, except winter). The one thing I don’t like about the fall? Dressing up for Halloween. I’ve always hated it. I think it’s because of the stupid parades in grade school. They ruined me. :O)

2. I love, love, love to clean my house. Especially vacuuming. My favorite thing to do when I have a free day is to spend all morning deep cleaning my house, then enjoy a spotless house the rest of the day. The weird thing is, I was a total slob in high school. More often than not, you couldn’t even see my bedroom floor. It drove my poor Mom crazy. I also couldn’t cook to save my life in high school. My brothers knew me best for the bagel pizza I set on fire (fyi: a microwave oven & toaster oven are NOT the same thing) & my famous baking soda cookies (they call for 1 tsp of baking soda, not 1 cup). Then, the weirdest thing happened. I got married and decided I love to cook & can’t stand a messy house. It’s amazing how you can change.

3. I am a total night owl. I love to stay up until 2 or 3. But only when I don’t have to get up early the next morning. Boy Sam is only just seeing this side of me. I’ve worked full time ever since we’ve been married & have had to get up at the crack of dawn to get to work. Since I’ve been home, though, I've been staying up later than he does. If you know Sam, you understand what a shock that is!

4.
I can quote my favorite movie, The Little Mermaid, word for word. The whole thing, every last syllable. My mother can attest to this. She’s seen me do it.

5.
Sam wanted me to add this one. I have “sporadic dance moments,” as he calls them. When a song comes on that hits me right, I dance like a total spaz. I pretty much look like an idiot, since I can't dance, but it sure is fun. I used to do this with Jesse, but I’ve
been flying solo since he left in December.

6. I can shoot carrots out of my nose. Yes, you read that one right. I have an enlarged nasal passage & sometimes get food stuck in my nose when I eat. The only way to get it out, is to blow it into a tissue. Yeah, it's gross. The worst was Chili’s boneless buffalo wings. They burn.

7.
It drives me batty when someone touches my hair. When Sam hugs me, I have to have my arms on top so my hair doesn’t get smashed. This is quite embarrassing to admit, but it’s the truth.

8.
Most people know this one, but I had to include it any way. I am totally OCD about my “To Do” list. I have one almost every single day. And if I do something that’s not on the list, I write it on there just to cross it off. I'm just happiest when I feel productive. The other weird thing, though, is that my list has to be pretty. Odd, I know. If I mess up, or don’t like the way my hand-writing looks, I re-write the whole darn thing. My friends at work used to get such a kick out of writing on my calendar & to do list.

Well, I hope you enjoyed. I really should be working, but this was much more fun. There are only 5 of my blogger buddies that haven't been tagged already. So, here you go guys. What are 8 weird things about you?

Tummy time

On Saturday, Jessica asked me if Hollie had ever fallen asleep on her tummy with her bum in the air. I said no, but apparently I spoke too soon! Look at that cute little bum sticking up! We just cannot keep this girl off her tummy. She loves it!! For the past couple of nights, she has flipped over in the middle of the night & sprawled out. I guess she's going to be a tummy sleeper like her mama.

Arrrrrrrrrr, Matey!

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me! While we were eating dinner last night, we looked over & saw this! We just busted up! She looked just like a pirate with a flower eye patch! Her headbands are always coming down over her face, but usually right in the middle. Not just over one eye like this. I thought it was too funny not to share. :O)

Saturday night

We invited Sam's family over for a BBQ on Saturday. It was such a gorgeous night & we all had a ball just hanging out in the back yard. Us girls sat on the blanket & chatted while the boys played football. The game was put on hold, however, when the ball went over the fence & was picked up by the man-eating rottweiler that lives next door. They were able to get the ball back by Tim's speed & agility and a hot dog distraction. :O) I made all 6 boys stop for a quick picture. Aren't they cute?!

Right after this picture was taken, poor little Boo Boo stumbled, tried to catch herself on the flower pot, fell into a hole & pulled the flowers down on top of herself! She was covered in black potting soil. It was so sad! Needless to say, we had Annie hop in the tub before she went home. :O)

Family pictures

They're done, they're done! When I saw Kim's email this morning letting me know that the pictures were online, I shrieked with delight. Kim, I know I've thanked you a million times, but I have to say it again. Thank you!! When I pick out the ones & I want, I'll post them on here. But if you can't wait, Kim has a few on her Simply You Photography blog, or you can see them all at www.simplyyou.instaproofs.com

My own little jacuzzi

When I'm being too lazy to pull out Hollie's little bath tub, she gets tubby time in the bathroom sink. She just looked so cute in there today that I had to pull out my camera. She looks like she's just chillin' in a hot tub or something. I love it!

Don't be too surprised

I know this may come as a shock to those of you who know me well, but I didn't really take any pictures on Mothers Day (yes, I am feeling alright). Here's the reason...One of my mothers day presents will be getting family pictures done. Kim, with Simply You Photography, is going take them on Thursday. She's amazing & I'm so excited! Since I knew that was coming this week, I didn't feel as compelled to keep my camera at the ready. I did have a wonderful Mothers Day, though. My sweet husband gave me a beautiful necklace with Hollie's birthstone. I love it! The best part of the day, however, was talking to lil' Jesse on the phone. Sam, Hollie & I (along with Josh Tammy & CJ) spent the night at my parents Saturday night so we could wait by the phone for him to call on Sunday. Jess's been out for 5 months now & he sounds fantastic! He says Argentina is beautiful & is loving the work. I miss him like crazy, but I'm also so proud of him. It's been so neat to watch his testimony grow over the past few months. Not only is he bringing people into the gospel, but also he's loving every minute of it. Only 19 months left & I get my gym buddy back. :O)

Hollie & Dylan

Hollie went on a date tonight. My friend, Jen's, darling little guy, Dylan, is only 5 months older than Hollie. So, we always say that they're going to get married someday. Don't they make a cute couple?! After a fan-tastic dinner from Robintinos, Jen & I we did our favorite thing...take pictures of our kids! Here are a few of my favorites...

I think this picture is so hilarious! I don't think his Daddy will appreciate it very much, though. :O)

What a beautiful day!

We have just been loving this warm weather. Well, Hollie & I have been at least (Boy Sam is happiest in 50 degree weather). We have had so much fun taking the Hollister outside. She just LOVES it. I think she'd live outside if we'd let her. Sam & I worked in the yard this afternoon, then tonight we decided to take advantage of the perfect day & try out our new BBQ & patio set. Sam grilled up the best steaks. They were so good! Unfortunately, Snoopy thought they were pretty yummy, too. When we went inside for just a minute, Snoop pulled the steak off my plate & was about to chow down before we caught her. Little twinkie! Thankfully there's the 10 second rule, right? :O)
